Barney always spews articles from “The Bro Code.” Ted, Marshall, Lily, and Robin all think he makes the stuff up as he goes along. Well, he did indeed make the stuff up, but the whole thing—the Bro code is actually printed out and hard-bound with gold-edged pages, like a bible. This guy really goes to extreme lengths; too bad he wastes his money and effort on the stupidest and silliest things, although, this is what makes him so cool and funny.
Barney Stinson lives out The Bro Code to the letter… Until he broke a rule—“Never sleep with a Bro’s ex.” He slept with poor vulnerable Robin who had just gotten dumped by an ex-boyfriend who had already dumped her before, when she was just 16.
The build up to that punch line was incredible. There was real drama and tears from Robin and there was something really sweet and sincere about Barney. Ted found out on his birthday. He got really angry at Barney and didn’t talk to him till they both got into accidents and ended up in the hospital.
